Slaughter Pen: Bentonville’s Signature MTB Experience

If you ask any rider about Bentonville, one of the first places they’ll mention is Slaughter Pen. This extensive trail system starts just minutes from downtown and offers everything from smooth flow trails to gnarly rock gardens. The network consists of beginner-friendly green trails, intermediate blues, and some black, making it a versatile destination for all skill levels.

Must-Ride Sections:

  • All-American: A great warm-up trail with smooth rollers and wooden features.

  • Schroen Train: A high-speed flow trail that keeps the adrenaline pumping and ends with a drop. 

  • Castle Hub: Rip and repeat. Green and Blues. Smooth and technical options. 

  • Masterpiece: Ridable art, got to check it out. 

Coler Mountain Bike Preserve: Flow and Tech Combined

One of the crown jewels of Bentonville mountain biking, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, offers riders a mix of machine-built flow trails and rugged technical descents. The climb to the top is rewarded with exhilarating downhill runs that will test your skills and keep you coming back for more.

  • Fire Line: A high-speed flow trail packed with big jumps.

  • Cease and Desist: For those who love chunky rock gardens and drops.

  • Drop the Hammer: A fast, technical downhill section for experienced riders.

  • Oscar’s Loop - great loop to access all of what Coler has to offer

Coler also features The Hub, a unique gathering spot at the top of the mountain where riders can rest before dropping into their trail of choice.

Back 40: Ozark Singletrack at Its Best

For those seeking adventure beyond the main town trails, The Back 40 in Bella Vista (just north of Bentonville) offers a backcountry singletrack experience with stunning Ozark scenery. This trail system is known for its epic climbs, flowy descents, and rock features that will challenge your technical skills.

  • Blowing Springs: A scenic trail with a mix of fast flow and some technical sections. It's a great place to  start and end  your journey to the Back 40 loop. 

  • Ledges: True to its name, this trail has rock ledges that will test your bike handling skills. Pro Tip:  Fall uphill. 

Little Sugar: Bentonville’s Hidden Gem

If you’ve tackled Slaughter Pen and the Back 40 and are looking for something new, Little Sugar is the next trail system to explore. Offering a mix of smooth singletrack and technical rock gardens, Little Sugar is a fantastic blend of challenge and fun.

Must-Ride Sections:

  • Tunnel Vision: Features long downhill stretches with berms and rollers.

  • Huntley Zone: A great area to get some air time. 

  • Down Under:  Fun section with challenging climbs and great descents.

  • Sunset Vista:  Great open view of the area.
